Born in Northern Ireland, I moved to County Monaghan where the surrounding landscape inspires an affinity with nature. Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and the memory of when I was six, my grandmother buying me a sketchpad and some crayons. It was then I knew that I wanted to be an artist.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts at University of Ulster, Belfast, I quickly started being commissioned for portraits, moving onto graphic design, and in the 1990's my wife and I moved to Monaghan where I started to paint wildlife and subjects in figurative works. As interest in my work grew, art became my focus in life I decided to really take the reins. Today, I'm delighted to say I have sold numerous paintings, to say too many to remember would not be an under-statement. I feel very fortunate to be doing something I love and as an artist is always his/her worst critic, I feel honoured to have had so many enjoy my work.
I have always had an admiration and fondness for animals, and been most inspired by the magnificent detail in the paintings of artists such as Carl Brenders & Robert Bateman. After painting all manner of subjects, turning to horses in the end was a natural choice.

I find pets enriching and I have always been surrounded by dogs or cats and even goats. To study them up close and seeing every strand of hair was a first lesson in drawing animals. I created this web site as a place for animal lovers to come and celebrate my wildlife art. New pieces are always being added, but I have started to move into equine and found my love of painting these magnificent beasts such a special honour. Their grace, stature and presence is captured in my work and I have found this as inspiration to paint them. This is why I started this venture to capture and share with people their relationship with their horses and feel through creating a portrait, a part of its life story.
